/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – For the third year in a row, the world-renowned Biosphere 2 is partnering with Run Tucson to host the TMC Earth Day 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 20.
Participants can register online or in person on race morning. Registration includes a souvenir sublimated short-sleeve shirt, entry into the timed race, live music, and free entry to tour the Biosphere 2.
“Every day is Earth Day at Biosphere 2 allowing us to showcase the cutting-edge research happening in the world’s largest controlled environment dedicated to understanding the impacts of our changing climate on ecosystems,” said John Adams, Deputy Director and Chief Operations Officer of Biosphere 2.
“We are also very excited about our partnership with the Run Tucson, which will solidify the connection of the health of Biosphere 1, Earth and our health. The TMC Earth Day 5k is a great way to get outdoors, whether you’re a walker or runner.”
Run Tucson race director Randy Accetta adds, “The running community has been impacted by a changing climate, from forest fire smoke to extreme temperatures, so we’re thrilled to bring runners back to the Biosphere 2. Between the unique Biosphere 2 architecture and the stunning mountain views, there’s nothing like it in the world.”
Along with the race, there will be interactive Earth Day learning for all ages, food tucks, age group and overall awards from The Running Shop, and live music from local desert surf band, Shrimp Chaperone.
