/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – With 23 countries represented, thousands of athletes and spectators varying in skill and ability took in the historic Homestead-Miami Speedway and spring sunshine to test their limits on this festival-style event weekend. All experienced a fitness expo, food trucks, music and inspiration throughout the 3-day event. Athletes and their supporters had the opportunity to camp or rent an RV to stay on site, something offered at all CLASH Endurance events.
In the Americas Triathlon Championship that took place Friday, athletes were vying for their chance to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics later this year. There were numerous male and female categories that encompassed all those racing, including PTWC, PTS2, PTS3, PTS4, PTS5, PTVI, U23, Elite and Elite Junior. In the T100 Event powered by CLASH Endurance on Saturday, 20 male and 20 female top-ranking pros lined up ready to test their limits. India Lee from Great Britain won among the impressive female field and Denmark’s Magnus Ditlev captured the men’s race against a stellar list of competitors. CLASH Endurance welcomed participants ranging in age from 7 to 73 between the sprint/relay triathlon, sprint duathlon, 1-mile swim, kids race and “Miami-distance” triathlons. Michellie Jones, one of the most highly decorated names in the sport as a two-time World Triathlon (formerly known as ITU) Champion, IRONMAN World Champion and Olympic Medalist, Jones raced as an age grouper and crossed the finish line in first for yesterday’s sprint triathlon. Alejandro Canas del Palacio took the men’s Sprint Triathlon first-place title. Sue Pelican won the duathlon for women and in the men’s race, Greg Pelican claimed first. Cyle Sage won the 1-mile swim and Mandy Zipf took first in the female race. In the Miami-distance event today, Sean Saxton won for the men and Kellie Pope took home the first place title for females.
