Leadville, Colo./ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Life Time Leadville Race Series, consisting of both run and cycle events that take participants through the trails and hills of picturesque backdrop of Leadville, CO, will take place over five weekends throughout June, July and August. Kicking off with MTB and run training camps in June, the Series will bring in runners and cyclists from across the globe who are ready to push their limits.
In 1983, the Leadville Race Series began with 45 runners and their 100-mile trek through the rugged Rocky Mountain terrain. Today, this world-renowned event Series hosts thousands of tough-minded racers from around the world as they test their Grit, Guts and Determination on foot and in the saddle. Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva: Saturday, June 29
The nation’s toughest marathon takes trail runners through the historic mining district’s challenging trails to the highest point of any Leadville Race Series event: Mosquito Pass. The out-and-back marathon course reaches 13,185 feet at its highest point, with an elevation gain of 6,167’. The Heavy Half is 15.4 miles, with an elevation gain of 3,421, reaching 13,169 feet at its highest point on the course.
Life Time Leadville Silver Rush 50 MTB presented by Kenetik and Life Time Silver Rush 50 Run presented by La Sportiva: Saturday, July 6 – Sunday, July 7
Runners take on the 50-mile course on July 7, and cyclists on July 8. With 8,000 feet of elevation gain over 50 miles, the run and MTB race both act as a qualifying event for the Leadville 100 races. Participating in both events on Saturday and Sunday and within the allotted time, gives those the opportunity to claim the title of Silver King and Silver Queen.
Life Time Leadville Stage Race presented by Kenetik: Friday, July 26 – Sunday, July 28
A qualifier for the Life Time 100 MTB, the Leadville Stage Race tackles the same 100-mile out-and-back course, but is broken up over three days of racing. The stages include 40-miles, 22-miles, and 41-miles, with post-race dinners and daily awards and celebrations.
Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB presented by Kenetik: Saturday, August 10
Celebrating its 30th year, Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB is one of the most prestigious endurance cross-country MTB events in the world. Also the fourth stop for the Life Time Grand Prix, the race is one of the most challenging in the world with steep and technical descents, and an elevation gain of about 12,000 feet.
Life Time Leadville Trail 100 Run presented by Sportiva: Saturday, August 17 – Sunday, August 18
The event that started the Series. The Trail 100 Run is one of the oldest and most storied endurance running events in the world. The iconic ultramarathon is a true challenge for those that take on the adventure, with rugged and unrelenting terrain with steep climbs of Powerline, high-altitude passes like Sugarloaf, and technical terrain on the Colorado Trail, all amounting to over 15,000 feet of elevation gain.
In addition to the lineup of endurance races, The Race Across the Sky Expo will also take place across the Trail 100 MTB and Run weekends, in downtown Leadville. The event is free and open to the public with product demos, swag opportunities, beer and food vendors, and so much more in celebration of the two of the most iconic endurance events.
