PITTSBURGH, PA (Sept. 12, 2024) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – P3R, the region’s go-to premier sporting event and experience expert, is proud to announce that its Sensory Trailer will be available at all upcoming P3R events this fall. This initiative aims to make P3R events more accessible and enjoyable for individuals with sensory processing needs.
Recognizing that 1 in 4 individuals may experience sensory sensitivities due to conditions such as Autism, ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, dementia, and others, P3R has introduced sensory-friendly spaces and resources to its events. For those who find large crowds, loud music, and new environments overwhelming, P3R is committed to offering the necessary assistance to make everyone feel welcome.
“We understand the importance of creating accessible environments, and our Sensory Trailer, sensory inclusive bags and staff training are steps toward ensuring that everyone can participate comfortably,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “By creating spaces that reduce sensory overload, P3R hopes to enhance the event experience for individuals and families who may otherwise find such environments challenging.”
P3R’s Sensory Trailer, also known as the Sensory Inclusive Space, will be stationed near the start line and/or finish area of each event. This trailer offers a calming, quieter environment equipped with sensory items designed to help individuals who may experience anxiety or sensory overload. Participants can relax in comfortable seating, enjoy textile floor pads, and engage with sensory tools such as fiber optic lights, magnet tiles, and fidget toys.
Additionally, Sensory Inclusive Bags are available free of charge. These bags contain noise-reduction headphones, sunglasses, fidget toys, and visual cue cards to assist individuals in managing overwhelming stimuli. P3R also has trained staff and volunteers to recognize and respond to sensory sensitivities, ensuring that participants receive support when needed.
